We’re a creative studio. But we’re humans first.

Who we are

EIO Studio is an independent creative house based in Amsterdam. This policy is our North Star for how we treat people—inside our studio, through our work, and across our global network.

Our commitment

Respect for human rights is foundational. Our standards are built on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the Core labor standards of the ILO. Our work is further anchored in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Covenants on Human Rights. This applies to everyone we work with, regardless of geography.

The Scope

  • Our Core: Every employee, contractor, and freelancer under our roof.

  • Our Network: The clients we partner with and the vendors we hire. We incorporate our human rights and safety standards into our contractual agreements and expect our partners to uphold them.

  • Our Output: Every piece of creative work that carries the EIO name.

  • Our Reach: Every jurisdiction where we operate or deliver.

What we stand for

Dignity and No Discrimination
We maintain zero-tolerance for discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, neurodivergence, religion, or socioeconomic background. We pay particular attention to groups requiring specific protection, including women (CEDAW), children, indigenous peoples (UNDRIP), migrant workers, ethnic or linguistic minorities, refugees, and those affected by extreme poverty.

Labour Rights
We uphold fundamental labour rights: no forced or child labour, fair pay (living wages), safe conditions, and the right to organise. We ensure equal pay for equal work regardless of gender and strictly respect international standards (ILO) regarding maximum working hours, rest periods, and breaks.

Ethical Creative Practice
Creativity has power. We won’t produce work that dehumanises, exploits, or facilitates abuse. If a commission conflicts with our ethics, we decline it.

Environmental Responsibility
We recognize that a healthy environment is a human right. We are committed to avoiding practices that lead to harmful soil change, water pollution, air pollution, or excessive noise and water consumption.

Privacy by Design
Your data isn’t a commodity. We handle personal information with respect, strictly following our Privacy Policy.

How we manage risk

We don’t wait for problems to find us. Before taking on new clients or major projects, we perform a human rights "gut check." We prioritize risks based on their severity, irreversibility, and the scale of people affected. We inform our analysis using internal discussions, client dialogue, and qualitative research into external human rights data and expertise. If we spot a conflict, we raise it. If it can't be resolved, we walk away.

Remediation & Grievance

If we discover that our operations or business relationships have caused or contributed to a negative human rights impact, we act. We are committed to providing for, or cooperating in, the fair remediation of that impact through dialogue and corrective action. Our contact form is open to all employees, partners, and the public for reporting concerns or grievances. We handle all reports with confidentiality and seriousness.

Accountability & Reporting

This policy is owned by EIO Studio leadership and reviewed annually. We report on our progress and any material updates to our practices publicly via our website to ensure transparency. We retain all documentation related to our risk analysis and complaints for a minimum of 7 years. We ensure that everyone at EIO is briefed on these standards and trained to mitigate these risks in our daily operations.
